Window Washing FAQs

When should windows be washed to look their best? If you live where it is hot, make certain to wash the windows in the shade. the sun is too hot and will dry up your window washing solution before you will have a chance to squeegee it off. Windows should also be cleaned every Spring and Fall to keep you home windows looking good year round. Special thanks to Ben at https://www.tampabaywindowcleaners.com/ for providing us this insight.

Window cleaning prices has several variables that go into how much should be charged. First it the location of your town, city, or even your state. If you live in New York or California, prepare to pay almost double other areas of the country pay. They have higher cost of living wages plus higher insurance rates. Typically window cleaning companies will charge on a per window pane basis. You can expect to be charged $6 to $10 per pane to clean it both inside and outside. Second floor windows obviously will be higher because more time and ladders are involved to complete the task at hand. Thanks to Jeremiah from South Mountain Window Cleaning for providing us with this insight.

Commercial window cleaning is different than residential for many reasons. Typically a home will get windows cleaned one or two times a year, while a commercial property will get them cleaned anywhere from weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or even quarterly. The higher the frequency, the lower your cost will be per service. Typical commercial windows will be charged about $2-$4 per pane for outside windows, and $1 to $3 per pane for inside windows. Desiree from America's Best Window Cleaning has provided us with this knowledge.

High rise windows are the most challenging windows there are to clean, so how often do they get cleaned? This really depends on the owner of the building, the management company, and obviously the budget. Most commercial buildings will be cleaned 1 or 2 times per year on the outside, and once per year inside. High rise condominiums have residents living in them, so they get their windows cleaned a little more often; 3 to 4 times per year. This answer is courtesy of Steve from Professional Window Cleaning.

Is there a best time of day to clean windows? Does the sunlight affect the window washing process? Let's dig into when windows should be washed and let an expert enlighten us on the mater.

Washing windows in direct sunlight is an extremely difficult task even for trained pros, so if you are planning to clean them yourself, try to clean your windows in the shade as much as possible. The draw back is that it is difficult to see streaks if the sun is not shining on the window, so you may have to go back and re-clean if you missed something.

Everyone wants streak-free windows, but is this even possible if I'm not a trained professional? The answer is yes. It is possible, so here are a quick window cleaning tips to point you in the right direction. First, make sure you have the right tools. A professional squeegee, a mop to wet the window, and a micro-fiber cloth. Wet the window thoroughly; don't miss any areas. Use your towel to wipe around all edges BEFORE you squeegee the glass. Now take you squeegee and wipe it down the glass from top to bottom all in one motion. Repeat again until all the window is dry. There should not be any streaks. If there is, simply use your towel to wipe it away. Special thanks to Learning to clean windows on YouTube for showing us first hand.

How often should you clean your outside windows is a variable question. If you live where there is a lot of weather like rain and snow, then 4 to 6 times per year. If you live where it is dusty, or in the deserts, then you should have your windows washed 6 to 12 times per year to keep them looking good. Don't neglect your inside windows cleaned at least twice a year. Running your heater, and just plain living will get them dirty enough to require cleaning a few times a year. Special thanks to James Co Window Cleaning in Portland for this knowledge.

Choosing the best window cleaning equipment is subjective to what your goals are.

Are you planning DYI window washing for your own home? If so, go to a local janitorial store and they will have a lot of the tools that expert window cleaners use. An Ettore squeegee works just fine for your home window washing needs.

If you're planning on running a window cleaning company, then you will need large poles that reach 30ft high, ladders that reach 32ft high, professional squeegees, lint-free Huck towels, and washer bars, and even a nice waterfed system and waterfed pole. The most popular squeegee used by professionals is the Sorbo squeegee, the most popular poles used are Unger telescoping poles, the most popular waterfed pole is the SimPole, and the most popular waterfed pure water system are Xero portable pure water systems. Most of this can be found online at ABC Window Washing Supply.

Cleaning windows may look easy, but even the most experienced window cleaners can benefit from a course on how to clean windows.

So is window cleaning easy? Yes, fortunately for you, the process of window cleaning is easy enough. Although this will depend on person to person, and on whether the person has certain equipment for it, cleaning agents, and experience.

For regular window cleaning, you will need a simple sponge/cloth and cleaning solution. However, the results of your cleaning will never be the same as when you hire a professional service for it. The very thought of window cleaning may seem easy to you, and it is for most people, but when you realize that you don't have the right equipment, that you can't reach the windows, that you need to climb on a ladder, that's the moment when people realize and give up on this demanding job, which requires professionals.

Remember that it is best to clean the windows on a cloudy, cool day, so the soapy water and cleaning solution does not dry on the windows.

Whenever you think about cleaning your windows at you home, you may cringe. This is because it is not easy to do, and there are real dangers of climbing ladders, or falling off your roof when you do it yourself.

So exactly how much should I plan on paying for getting my windows cleaned by a professional? There is a Mesa window cleaning company that is experienced enough to handle any home windows you have.

When you call, they may ask home many window panes you have. They will charge you between $4 to $8 per window pane on your home. These prices vary on size, and wether they are ground floor windows, or 2nd story windows. Remember, getting your sunscreens cleaned will be an additional charge. This takes extra time to remove them and clean them, so you should expect to pay more.

Ionized water is not ideal for washing windows. Ions in water are exactly what you don't want to wash your windows with. Even though ionized water is safe to drink, they include all the organic and inorganic materials such as minerals, salts, and metals.

Once dried, they leave behind residue and spots that end up being an eyesore. Purified deionized water is perfect for washing windows because it dries clean. Since it contains no chemicals, it is good for the environment, safe for pets, plants, and children, and is rather inexpensive.

Deionized water is produced by sending regular water from the tap, spring, or even distilled water through a resin that has been electrically charged. Cation and anions in the water are swapped out for H+ and OH found the resins and the end result is pure H2O.

Simply put, deionized water is the purest water you can get. When you are washing windows, you want to do so with water that isn't going to leave anything behind when it dries.

A speical thanks to Master Pro Clean for providing us with this great information!

Window cleaning is safe as long as the cleaner and the company he works for are strict in following the guidelines for workplace safety. If they don't do so, there is a potential danger for accidents.

Despite this fact, deaths among high-rise window cleaners are rare, according to a research made by The International Window Cleaning Association.

To ensure the safety of professional window cleaners, they monitor various factors. This includes the inspection of equipment. The quality of tools should be properly observed by implementing an in-house inventory.

Enforcing safety also means having appropriate training. Cleaners need to know how to handle their equipment so they can avoid trouble when using them on the job.

Another factor to consider is site assessment. Before operating on any building, workers should know what risks they may encounter there. After that, they can create a written work plan on how to prevent dealing with such hazards.
